Intro: Doctrine of Humanity (pt 11) (Philip Zevenbergen)

 • Series: The Heart of Our Faith

Sample GC questions: Read Matthew 5:43-47. The doctrine of humanity tells us that every person is made in God’s image, and therefore has intrinsic value, worth, and dignity. The Hebrew slave girl embodied this by showing compassion to the very man (Naaman) who forcefully removed her from her homeland and enslaved her. We are called to overcome evil with good. Where is this command the hardest to apply in your life? Naaman’s biggest problem was not his leprosy, but his pride. Likewise, the religious leaders in Jesus’ day were also blinded by their pride. Discuss the truth of this statement: Pride is at the root of every sin. Are there any simple acts of obedience you are overlooking in your life right now? What is causing you to miss the presence of God in everyday, ordinary things?
