Seeing all of life through Jesus (pt 5)
• Series: No Other Gospel
Galatians 3:1-9 Faith in Jesus Christ is not a gateway into Christian moralism. It’s not an initiation into anxious religious striving. Jesus is our daily bread. Jesus Christ crucified and risen must be constantly set before the eyes of our heart. He cried out, “It is finished!” We must fight to believe this daily, and then emotionally feast on it. If we don’t keep our eyes on Jesus, we will deceive ourselves and become a stumbling block to others. 1.) Evaluate your efforts through Jesus 2.) Interpret your experience through Jesus 3.) Critique your community through Jesus Questions for reflection: -Paul loved his friends in Galatia, and he felt their error was serious enough to confidently write, "You foolish Galatians!" Why is wandering from the heart of the Gospel such a major error? How does it fuel other errors? -Read verses 4-5. When we begin to hold our experience of life over and above God's Word, rather than holding God's Word over and above our experience, we start focusing our efforts on trying to manufacture spiritual experiences, rather than simply trusting God through wilderness seasons. When have you fallen into this? -Read verse 8. When God called and blessed Abraham, it was already in God's plan to bless all the nations through Abraham's family line, from which Jesus Christ was born. When Christian community is built on Christ crucified, we are a blessing to others. But when it's built on something less, we are a hindrance. What are some false foundations that churches are sometimes built upon?
