Identity, election, motivation (pt 8)
• Series: No Other Gospel
Galatians 3:27 – 4:7 The doctrine of election is full of immense encouragement. We were born into sin, and yet still heirs of God. But until we professed faith in Jesus, we differed in no way from anyone else, even though we were heirs. The time of our conversion is set by our father. When we received adoption, God sent His Spirit to live within us, and this moved our moral motivation from external (pride or fear) to internal (love). The Gospel brings us lifelong encouragement by giving us: 1.) A resilient identity (Galatians 3:27-29) 2.) The assurance of election (Galatians 4:1-5) 3.) An intimate motivation (Galatians 4:6-7)
