What do you notice about the people who found a "home" with David? Do you see any similarity to the people who were drawn to Jesus? How does David disciple them in verse 5? What does Saul do to the city of Nob? Why is this so dark and depraved? Where is Saul getting the authority to do this? Look at 1 Samuel 22:20-23. David was a shepherd by trade. How does David shepherd Abiathar? How does this remind us of our Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ?
