1.) Doctrine of God
We believe that the one true God exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these, being one God, are equal in deity, power, and glory. God is infinite, eternal, and perfect in beauty, holiness, goodness, truth, and love. We believe that God not only created the world but also now upholds, sustains, governs, and providentially directs all that exists and that He will bring all things to their proper consummation in Christ Jesus to the glory of His name.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 104, 139; Matthew 10:29-31, 28:19; Acts 17:24-28; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 1:9-12, 4:4-6; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-3; Revelation 1:4-6)
2.) Doctrine of the Scriptures
We believe the Scriptures – only the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments – are the inspired Word of God and are therefore without error in their original writings. These books provide us with a perfect treasure of divine instruction and narrate God’s purpose in the creation of the world, His plan for salvation in Jesus, and the standard by which He will judge the world. The Bible is the true center of all Christian union and will remain to the end of the world.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18; John 10:35, 17:17)
3.) Doctrine of Creation
We believe that God created the whole world from nothing and governs all things at all times in all places.God’s creative work is the overflow of the love present within the Trinitarian fellowship. Creation, according to the design of God, was good. God doesn’t let the world exist, He makes the world exist. He upholds the universe by the word of His power, and He holds the world together in himself.
(Genesis 1:1-2; Psalm 24:1; Genesis 1:3-31; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3)
4.) Doctrine of Humanity
We believe that every human is created in the image of God and therefore possesses intrinsic dignity and worth. God made humanity—male and female—in His image. As His image bearers, every human is sacred, and we believe personhood begins at conception. As stewards of God’s creation, men and women are called to forsake passive self-indulgence and strive for meaningful engagement in family, church, and civic life. Adam and Eve were created to complement each other in a one-flesh union in the covenant of
marriage which establishes the only God-ordained pattern of sexual relations for men and women. In God’s wise purposes, men and women are not simply interchangeable, but rather they complement each other in mutually enriching ways.
(Genesis 1:27-30; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9; 1 Corinthians 10:31)
5.) Doctrine of Sin and Human Depravity
We believe that sin has fractured all creation, leaving the world in desperate need for salvation. Through the temptation of Satan, humanity transgressed the command of God and fell from their original holiness and righteousness. Now all humanity inherits a corrupt nature that is opposed to God and His law. Therefore, all humans are under condemnation. This depravity is radical and pervasive. It extends to the mind, will, body and affections. Unregenerate humanity lives under the dominion of sin and Satan. Humans are unable to save themselves or contribute in any way to their acceptance before God.
(Genesis 3; Romans 3:9-20; Ephesians 2:1-3; Psalm 51:5)
6.) Doctrine of Salvation and the Gospel
We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Due to universal death through sin, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless born again. Salvation is only by grace through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. All who receive the Lord Jesus Christ through faith are declared righteous by God and become children of God. The Gospel is the good news that Christ’s death is a substitutionary and propitiatory sacrifice to God for our sins. The Gospel is the end of all human pursuits for righteousness because it announces that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. God alone, because of his mercy and sovereign grace, through the power of the Holy Spirit, awakens faith and repentance. Those who turn from sin and look to Christ alone for their righteousness are justified before God — having the righteousness of Christ imputed to them.
(John 1:12-13, 3:5-8, 6:37-44; Acts 16:30-31; Romans 3-4, 8:1-17, 10:8-13; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:3-7; Hebrews 10:19-25)
We believe the Gospel is not only the means by which people are saved, but also the means by which people are sanctified. Trusting Jesus as our only source of acceptance before God enables us to genuinely and joyfully live in a pleasing way before God. Through this gospel-empowered obedience, the Holy Spirit progressively conforms us to the image of Christ.
(1 Corinthians 1:21-22; Philippians 2:12-13)
We believe that once salvation is obtained, it cannot be lost. Those who are truly redeemed are preserved by God’s power and are secure in Christ forever.
(Romans 8:31-39)
7.) Doctrine of the Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ sent to proclaim the glory of God. God, by His Spirit and Word, created the Church, calling sinful humanity into the joyful fellowship of Christ’s body. The mission of the Church is to bring glory to God by making disciples. The Church is called to make disciples through worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of the ordinances, fellowship, the exercise of our gifts and talents, and the proclamation of the Gospel both in our community and throughout the world. The local church is the primary instrument through which the Triune God is fulfilling his redemptive purposes in all creation, and the Church is the great work of God. The Church universal is made up of those, both living and dead, who have become genuine followers of Jesus.
(Isaiah 58:6-12, 61:1; Matthew 16:17-19, 28:18-20; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31; Galatians 2:10; Ephesians 1:22-23, 3:7-21, 4:11-16; Hebrews 10:23-25; 1 Peter 2:4-5, 2:9-10)
8.) Doctrine of Resurrection and the World to Come
We believe in the literal second coming of Jesus Christ at the end of the age when He will return personally and visibly to the earth to consummate His kingdom. At this time, Christ will raise the dead from the grave and separate the righteous from the wicked. The wicked will be consigned to eternal punishment, and the righteous to eternal joy in fellowship with the Triune God. This judgment will forever fix the final state of every person in either heaven or hell, on the principle of God’s just and holy judgment in Christ. The righteous, in glorious bodies, will live and reign with Him forever, serving Him and giving Him unending praise and glory. Then the eager expectation of creation will be fulfilled, and the whole earth shall proclaim the glory of God, who makes all things new.
(Matthew 25:46; John 5:25-29; 1 Corinthians 15:20-28, 15:35-58; 2 Corinthians 5:1-10; Philippians 3:20-21; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11; 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12; Revelation 19:1-21, 20:11-15, 21:1-22:15)
