• Series: Heaven
How is the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus helpful to me now? Can’t we just agree on the Golden Rule and get along? 1.) Intelligence isn’t enough 2.) Moralizing isn’t enough 3.) Motivation isn’t enough 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 Philippians 2:5-9 1 Peter 5:6 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 Questions: 1.) Read 1 Corinthians 2:1-2. Corinth was a wealthy city full of intellectuals and business leaders. Paul said he decided to know nothing except the Gospel: Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Paul believed that Jesus was enough. He trusted that the simple Gospel could really change hearts. Do we believe that enough? 2.) Read 1 Corinthians 2:3. Are we living with integrity as Christians if we claim Jesus as our Savior, but never confess our sin, weakness, fear, and need? Does the Gospel tell us that Jesus was a prideful moralizer, or a humble servant? 3.) Read 1 Corinthians 2:4-5. What is the danger of someone becoming a Christian based on their confidence in another person, rather than confidence in God? What did Paul want the Corinthians to trust in?
