What is the problem? (pt 1)

â€¢ Series: Renovate: How Jesus teaches us to love

What is the problem? 1.) Our ego is too big 2.) Our faith is too small 3.) Our heart is too far Matthew 15:1-9 Matthew 5:23-24 Proverbs 15:32 Titus 3:9-11 Questions: 1.) Read Matthew 15:1-3. The Pharisees were pushing their man-made traditions onto everyone else. They had an ego problem, and so do we. We often assume we know how to love others, even when we may not. What are some ways that you push your personal preferences or commitments on others and assume it's a loving thing, when it actually may not be? 2.) Read Matthew 15:4-6. The Pharisees were ignoring what God said in favor of their own traditions. Their faith in God's Word was too small, and their faith in their own ideas was far too big. Be honest with yourself: How often do you assume that you just know how to loved a person without praying or consulting the Bible? 3.) Read Matthew 15:8-9. These words should break our hearts. We should long for our hearts to be in line with God's heart, not far from Him. Take some time to pray together, asking God to align your heart with His and repenting of sin.
