 • Series: Think with Joy

Think with Joy – The Gospel brightens everything 1 Corinthians When Paul taught the Corinthian Christians how to think through their problems, he showed them how robust Christian thinking always leads to joy. And this joy comes to those who make a practice of thinking through their faith because the Gospel brightens everything. Thinking about who we are (1 Corinthians 1) Our problem Our calling Our confidence Questions: What is the problem Paul addresses in chapter 1? What do you think is fueling this division? Is this spirit of division just a Corinthian problem, or a universal problem? Paul uproots their prideful division by helping them think through their calling. In verses 26-29, how does Paul get to the conclusion that "no one may boast" in God's presence? Read verses 30-31. If Jesus is our righteousness (past tense), our sanctification (present tense), and our redemption (future tense), then Jesus alone is the reason why we are right with God. How does this destroy the power of comparison and division? Why is it joyful news that Jesus is our confidence before God, rather than our personal performance?
