The reason for David (pt 23)

 • Series: Humble Heart

The reason for David – 2 Samuel 24 Our sovereign God Sin and judgment An unworthy substitute A temporary sacrifice Questions: Why is it a comfort to understand that God is sovereign over even the boundaries of evil? Discuss this statement from the sermon: "The fact that Satan cannot do anything without God’s permission means you don’t live in an out-of-control world. It may appear that way, but evil cannot move past the boundaries that God sets. Your suffering is not random, and it’s not meaningless. There is always a purpose, there is always a plan, even when you don’t know it. Satan is not in charge." Why did God not fulfill David's request in verse 16? Where did David build the altar? What structure would eventually be built there? How is Jesus a permanent fulfillment of the altar, the temple, and the sacrifice?
