(Philippians 2:3-11) In Isaiah’s story we see how humility gives us the joy of being fully known and fully loved. In Peter’s story we see how humility gives us the joy of having a stable identity. In Paul’s story we see how humility gives us the joy of repenting and being forgiven. In Jesus we see perfect humility. Sample Questions for GCs: Read Isaiah 6:5-8. In these verses Isaiah feels great fear because he is fully known in God’s holy presence. But he also becomes bold because he is fully loved by God and forgiven. Discuss this reality: Many Christians don’t feel deeply loved because they don’t invite God and others into their life to deeply know them. Why do we fear being deeply known? When we are humble, we gain a stable identity. Our identity is unstable when we find our worth in our achievements, beauty, reputation, family, friends, career, or anything else in this world. Where in your life are you tempted to find your identity in an unhealthy place? Humble people repent of their sins and seek forgiveness from God. Do you humbly seek God’s forgiveness, or just expect it from Him?
