Remember A manual on fighting against falling away A series in 2 Peter This summer we’re working through 2 Peter verse-by-verse. There are 66 books in the Bible, and 2 Peter is #61. It’s only three chapters, and a total of 61 verses. It’s a short New Testament letter, but it packs a punch. This letter is a training manual on how to fight against falling away from faith in Jesus. Peter has credibility on the topic of falling away. He denied even knowing Jesus 3 times in his hour of greatest need. At the Last Supper, Peter claimed to be Jesus’ closest friend, and then he ran away from all of it. But he returned. In this short letter, Peter uses the word “remind” or “reminder” 3 times. That’s why this series is titled Remember. Wallowing in the mud (2 Peter 2:19-22) 1.) False faith 2.) Free fall 3.) Final loss Questions: Verse 20 says someone can have a knowledge of Jesus Christ, and yet still not really know Jesus. What does this look like? According to Peter, is Christianity worth much in someone's life if they don't persist in it? Read verse 22. What is this describing?
