God is patient with you (pt 8)

Remember A manual on fighting against falling away A series in 2 Peter This summer we’re working through 2 Peter verse-by-verse. There are 66 books in the Bible, and 2 Peter is #61. It’s only three chapters, and a total of 61 verses. It’s a short New Testament letter, but it packs a punch. This letter is a training manual on how to fight against falling away from faith in Jesus. Peter has credibility on the topic of falling away. He denied even knowing Jesus 3 times in his hour of greatest need. At the Last Supper, Peter claimed to be Jesus’ closest friend, and then he ran away from all of it. But he returned. In this short letter, Peter uses the word “remind” or “reminder” 3 times. That’s why this series is titled Remember. God is patient with you (2 Peter 3:1-13) 1.) Let the crickets chirp 2.) Let God be God 3.) Let us be holy Questions: Peter says that scoffers will most certainly come, and they will say all sorts of false things about God. Should we be surprised by this? Should we worry about it? How do verses 8-9 remind us that we are not God, and that we should let God be God? According to Peter, why should we strive to be holy?
