What tension is this adding into David's rise to kingship? Was the whole kingdom of Israel delivered over to David simply because two men decided to assassinate Ish-bosheth? Was God behind any of this? Why or why not? Read Isaiah 10:5-6, 12-15. Does the Bible show us a God who is desperately trying to keep up with an out-of-control world? Or is God powerfully presiding over all of it? How does this impact our ability to trust God and not live in perpetual worry?
